What a weekend! After slaving away the past few months on cosplay, I’ve finally reached the end of this cosplay summer. And what better way to cap it off than with a title! Power Morphicon 2016 is definitely one to remember!
My cosplayer partner, Jezzerzeus, and I debuted our Power Ranger-themed cosplays on Saturday of Power Morphicon. I was the Megazord from the MMPR series and he was Blue Centurion.
Power Morphicon had a big exhibit featuring the Dino-Charge Megazord. Had to take a picture with it!
We we’re well received by the con-attendees, but what really was a pleasant surprise was being recognized by the original Sentais from Japan.
They we’re super enthusiastic about seeing the Megazord and came out of their booths to take pictures with us! Truly an honor!
David Fielding came up and showed some love! If you don’t recognize him, he’s Zordon!
This cosplay was different in that I elected to go with metallic construction paper. Boy, did it pay off! This costume was super-shiny!
To cap off the day, Jezzer and I competed against eachother at the cosplay contest. The competition was nothing short of stiff. Jezzer’s Blue Centurion cosplay lit up the stage, while other Zords such as the Dragon Zord and Claw Megazord wow’ed the crowd. However, to my surprise, I was able to squeak away with the win! Kudos to all who competed, you all definitely pushed the limits of my cosplay abilities!
Got to snap some pics with the competition after it was all over.
And none of this would be possible without the help and support of all my friends! Thank you for everything from spotting, helping me with adjustments, and believing in me! This win is all of ours!
This is the 5th Power Morphicon ever, and to be one of 5 to win Best in Show is an honor I will be sure to cherish! Now that cosplay season is over, time to go back and work on the full build-tutorials on all my cosplay this summer.
